Aug 2, Mon {A} Easy, Social Bike Ride. See Monday May 3 in Loype for details.

Aug 4, Wed {WW} Looking for the Trail of the Alleygator. Meet in the parking lot of the now defunct Alleygator's Nite Club in Maple Grove and bike scenic trails to Elm Creek Park. Meet at 9:30 am so that we can begin riding at 9:45. Most of the ride will be on paved trails. Since this is a "no map" ride, we will ride together as a group. A major rest stop is planned in Elm Creek Park. We will go out to eat after this 30-35 mile ride. Dir: Take exit 26 off I-494 in Maple Grove, head east on CR 10 (Bass Lake Road); turn left at the first traffic signal onto Sycamore Lane; after one block turn left in front of McDonald's onto 62nd Place which ends in the old Alleygator's parking lot.) Aug 6, Fri A Surprise Breakfast Ride. This"B" ride covers approximately 30 miles. Meet at 6:45 am and ride at 7:00 sharp, leaving from the Marriott Inn, northwest corner of US 169 and I-394 in St. Louis Park. Breakfast will be at a surprise location at about 9:00. Jul 31, Sat (SNO) Concert at Lake Harriet. Bring your picnic, beverage and blanket. Meet at 6:30 on the hill directly in front of the bandstand. Minneapolis Pops Orchestra will begin at 7:30pm. FFI: Colleen Cavell 952-927-4703 or donovan0826@juno.com.

Aug 19, Thurs (SNO) Tiger Lion Arts walking play, "Nature", a mythical telling of Emerson and Thoreau's mutual love affair with the natural world. 6pm performance at MN Landscape Arboretum. Free Arboretum and walking play admission after 4:30pm. If interested in a light meal or happy hour before the play, meet on restaurant's outdoor Newton Terrace around 4:30pm. For play only, meet at 5:45pm at play's starting location (info at Oswald visitor center). CLUB NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENT
July - August Loype Now on Web Site
The July - August Loype is now available on the web site, www.north-stars.org. Click on "Club Newsletter" on the left.

In addition, the full length version of Al Mayer's "Spirit Tale" is available on the message board, www.north-stars.org. First click on "Message Board" on the left. Then click on the "Wednesday Wanderers" section.

NSSTC Annual Picnic Turns Green! When: Tuesday, August 10, 6pm to 9pm
Where: Hidden Falls Park, is on the St. Paul side of the river at : 1313 Hidden Falls Dr. (off Mississippi Blvd. and Magoffin)

From the Ford Parkway Bridge, go south past the Ford Plant on your left. The entrance to Hidden Falls Park will be within a mile at the next Stop sign.

Why: Why not? There will be great food, friends, trip mates, people interested in the club and even more food.

What: Bring your favorite dish to share such as salads, dessert or a true Minnesota hotdish. This year to help make a smaller carbon foot print on our environment the board asks that you please bring your own plate, utensils and cup. The club will provide iced tea, lemonade, and water.

Who: Invite family, friends and others interested in the North Star's.


TRIP AND EVENT NOTES

FOR SALE
Did you want to do the BAM (Bike Around Minnesota) ride but missed the registration deadline? You are getting a second chance and can purchase my registration. Many of your North Star friends will be there. The ride is a loop in the Cloquet area August 18-21. Check out the website: www.bambiketour.org and call me if you are interested. 651-690-5244. DEADLINE FOR E-LOYPE SUBMISSIONS

All items submitted for publication in the Thursday e-loype must be submitted by 6:00 pm. Wednesday. Remember that the editor is required to enforce e-loype guidelines and is authorized to edit items so they are clear and concise. Please keep your submissions as brief and succinct as possible.
